Rhinoplasty in Cleft Lip-Nose Deformity

  Dr Kiatanant Boonsiriseth

The last remaining deformity on the face of cleft lip and palate patient is the nose.
The nose; the structure that locates on the center of the face; is the point of eye catching which affects greatly the esthetic of the face.  Although the numerous secondary surgical correction of the deformity of cleft lip and palate such as alveolar cleft bone grafting, orthognathic surgery, maxillary distraction and scar revision improve the proportion and profile of the face, the face still appears abnormal due to the existing deformed nose.
So the nasal correction must be necessary to obtain the normal facial appearance.
The degree of severity of nasal deformity is various individually and the appearance of the nose is not similar in each person.  These facts make the reconstructive rhinoplasty in cleft lip nose deformity hard to achieve the repeatedly perfect result.  This presentation shows the result of the cases based on the intraoperative procedure and some considerations of cleft lip nose rhinoplasty.
